Description:

Manufactured in 1935; the only year that Winchester offered a deluxe heavy barrel version of its Model 54 rifle, making it the rarest of all Model 54 variations. See Roger Rule's "The Rifleman's Rifle" for further information (pages 11, 15, 16, 18 and 37). Standard markings. The barrel has a hooded ramped front sight, a scope base in place of a rear sight and there is a scope base mounted on the front receiver ring and a Lyman peep sight on the rear of the receiver (stock factory inletted). One piece select walnut pistol grip stock with a black plastic forend cap, hard rubber Winchester grip cap, cheek piece, checkered steel buttplate and 1 1/4 inch quick release sling swivels.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel and receiver retain 97% original blue finish with a very small amount of light spotting. The trigger guard and floor plate are a mix of traces of original blue finish and smooth brown patina. The stock is fine, with some scattered minor dents, dings, scratches and very crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent. This is a very fine example of a Model 54 deluxe heavy barrel rifle in 250-3000 Savage that is missing from most Winchester bolt action collections.
