This revolver is a 4th Change manufactured circa 1915 to 1942. The rear sides of the barrel are engraved with a floral scroll and flower pattern with a punch dot background. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address/patent dates. The right side is marked "38 S&W SPECIAL CTG." in a panel, and "SMITH & WESSON" is on the left side in a panel. The frame, cylinder flats, and back strap are engraved with floral scroll designs with a punch dot background. The S&W Trade Mark logo is on the left side of the frame and "MADE IN U.S.A." is on the right front of the frame. Blade front and frame notch rear sights, nickel finish with casehardened hammer and trigger, and fitted with smooth pearl grips. The revolver comes with a leather bound hardcase with green felt lining. The inside of the spring loaded lid is gold embossed "J.B.CROOK & CO./GUNS & PISTOLS/1166-1168 BROADWAY, N.Y.". In the case is a 79 round cartridge block containing 50 rounds of S.F.M. 38 special ammunition.

Excellent. The revolver retains 99% original nickel finish with a light cylinder drag line and overall some minor dings and handling marks. The hammer and trigger retain 98% bright original case colors. The grips are also excellent with a few minor dings and handling marks. The markings and engraving remain crisp and clear. The action is excellent. The case is good with some heavy exterior wear and a small tear in the lining where the hammer lays.
