Description:

Manufactured in 1881. The table on page 290 of "The Parker Story" by Gunther, Mullins, Parker, Price, and Cote, lists approximately 385 Grade 3 guns manufactured with Damascus barrels, in this length, in 10 gauge chambering. Single nickel bead sight on the smooth rib marked "PARKER BROS. MAKERS. MERIDEN CONN. DAMASCUS STEEL", 2 3/4 inch chambers and cylinder chokes. The casehardened side lock action features tight scroll engraved accents, hunting dogs on the side plates and a small game bird on the underside. Mounted on a fancy multi-point checkered splinter forearm with engraved hardware and pistol grip stock, with a checkered hard rubber grip cap, skeletonized steel buttplate, and checkered naked butt. The stock measurements are: drop at comb 1 7/8 inches; drop at heel 2 3/4 inches; length of pull 14 inches.

Rating Definition:

Very good as period refinished. 50% thinning brown finish remains on the barrels with small areas of light edge wear, scattered traces of lightly cleaned pitting, crisp barrel markings, and good, visible Damascus patterning. The lock plates, receiver and trigger guard have a dark mottled gray/brown patina with some small dings, handling marks, and clear engraving. The wood is good with well defined checkering, some small chips near the buttplate, scattered indentations, and a small stress crack at the tail of the left lock. Mechanically very good.
