Description:

This is a very unique example of a HK 91 that was converted into a G3 configuration rifle by the H&K Utah Safety Specialists and then converted into a lightweight belt fed HK23E type machine gun by the "TSC LLC company" in Ruther Glen VA. The G3, and subsequent HK21 and HK 23 MGs were originally manufactured in the early 1960s for the German Army, where they stayed in service for 20 years before being replaced by the Rheinmetall MG3. The HK 23, (like the HK21) was a selective fire light machine gun that fired from a closed bolt that utilized the HK designed and patented delayed, roller-block system. This example is designed to use the German DM6 linked belt (counterpart to the M13) or the segmented German DM1 belt. It has reinforcing plates welded on the sides, along with a perforated front receiver area. The top of the receiver is marked "HK E A030093" followed by a German "Eagle/N" proof and the year code of "AK". The lower left side of the receiver is marked: "TSC LLC company" in Ruther Glen VA." It is fitted with the standard 3-position trigger pack marked "S E and F", the standard post front sight and the 1200 meter adjustable drum rear sight, and a 17 1/2 inch quick change barrel with a HK type flash hider. The side of the barrel is stamped "1-000 882 Cal. 5.56X45 IE". The side of the bolt carrier is marked HK 23E and the top of the bolt is stamped "IE 291", the side of he belt feed mechanism is marked "HK 23/IE". It has the heavy HK 21 type folding bipod on the front end, and the standard black plastic HK pistol grip and buttstock. It comes with a black plastic "HK" marked machine gun belt carrier and several section of non-disintegrating machine gun belts for 7.62 ammunition.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 95% of the refurbished black painted exterior finish with only very minor edge and high spot loss. The plastic components are all in excellent condition.
