Description:

This is a scarce M1A rifle as manufactured by Springfield Armory Inc. of Geneseo, Illinois, that was converted by Rock Island Armory of Geneseo, Ill into a fully automatic battle rifle. The Rock Island Armory company was a satellite company of Springfield Armory that did the conversion by the addition of the selector switch leg on the right rear side of the receiver and then the addition of the fully automatic components. It is fitted with a standard weight unmarked M14 chrome lined barrel along with a HRA marked trigger group and barrel. The rear of the receiver has the standard Springfield Armory Inc. markings with the upper rear flat of the receiver (directly below the rear sight) stamped "R.I.A." It has the standard military type front and rear sight with the GI type gas system and flash hider. The flash hider is fitted with a GI type muzzle stabilizer. It has a standard GI walnut stock and ventilated handguard. The stock has a sharp DOD cartouche on the left side with a circled "P" proof in the pistol grip area. It is complete with one 20 round magazine.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 95% of the original parkerized finish overall showing only minor handling wear and finish loss on the receiver rail with right rear section of the receiver when the selector switch leg was added on. The stock and handguard are both in excellent condition with minimal handling marks overall. Note: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
