Description:

This is a very good example of a very early production Johnson Arms Model 1941 Light Machine Gun (LMG). This model was heavily used by the USMC Raiders and Paramarines and later on by the 1st Special Services units. These early LMGs are a very rare item today as the majority of them were returned to either the USMC or the factory and converted into the later 1944/45 models with the improved designs. After WWII the majority were sold to foreign countries or simply destroyed as surplus to the demands of military. The earlier model worked extremely well in that it was light weight, easy to maneuver and handling and it used a larger 25 round detachable magazine with a quick change barrel exactly like the standard semi-automatic M1941 rifle. This example still retains the original steel bipod and it fires from and open bolt and it utilizes the unique side mounted magazine. The top of the receiver is marked with the five line patent information followed by "LIGHT MACHINE GUN/JOHNSON AUTOMATICS/CAL. 30-06/MODEL OF/MADE IN PROVIDENCE RI. U.S.A". Below that it is serial numbered 0468. This example has the distinctive high front sight with the fully adjustable folding rear sight, the one-piece wall walnut buttstock and short walnut forend. This desirable early LMG comes with one original 25 round magazine.

Rating Definition:

Fine condition with 40% of its original parkerized finish overall showing even honest wear from field use over the years. The buttstock, short forend and pistol grip plates are all good condition with a dark oil finish showing numerous light pressure dents and dings overall. NOTE: This weapon is a restricted, National Firearms Act (NFA) Class 3, Fully Automatic Weapon, that is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478. This weapon is currently registered as being "LIMITED TO USE AS A SALES SAMPLE (Pre-86)" and as such can only be purchased by an FFL, with a Class 2 or Class 3 SOT License.
