This is a standard German WWII K98 rifle that was adapted to use the short ZF41 extended eye relief rifle scope. These scopes were 1.5 X and were really intended to be used as a shooters aid for the above average marksman throughout the war and were made by several rifle factories. The receiver carries the "AR" code for Mauser-Werke, A.G. Borsigwalde Berlin and "42" indicating 1942 as the year of manufacture. The top of the receiver has the single "Eagle 26" Waffenamt with a single Eagle firing proof on the left side of the barrel and receiver. This model has the milled type II barrel bands and also the milled trigger guard and floor plate. The stock and handguard are both the correct wartime versions but is unproofed. The ZF-41 mount carries the single "DUV" over Eagle 214 Waffenamt proof indicating manufacture at the Berlin-Lubecker factory. The scope itself is marked ZF 41/1 and "cxn" for the A. G. Busch Optics factory at Rathnow next to a blue + indicating winter use. It is fitted with a set of stamped metal sunshades. The scope is complete with a sheet metal ZF41 scope can that is marked "jvb" with a single Eagle WaA542" Waffenamt on back. The rifle is compete with a brown unmarked cross-hatched leather sling, a cleaning rod, and a sheet metal front sight cover.

Very fine with 90% plus of the original wartime blue finish remaining, with light wear on the bolt body and safety assembly, edges and high spots of the receiver and rear of the barrel with some oxidation present. With some light wear, thinning and browning on the trigger guard and floor plate, barrel bands and exposed sections of the barrel. The stock and handguard both have a very nice war time finish with minimal handling marks and light pressure dents or scratches in a few areas. The scope and mount have a solid 98% blue finish with clear markings, the optics a clear with a little cloudiness present and the scope can has a good 95% of the tan painted finish remaining. The sling is in fine condition.
