This is an example of a very a scarce early production 1936 dated Mauser Banner Commercial Luger pistol chambered that comes with a matching magazine. The top of the chamber is dated "1936," and the front toggle has the early five-line Mauser Banner logo. This pistol falls into the range of those generally considered as a standard commercial Luger that was intended for sales outside Germany or Europe, that was not a military or police contract pistol. The left side of the barrel extension and breechblock are both stamped with a single "Crown/U" commercial proof. There are no proofmarks on the barrel nor any other proof markings on the pistol. The pistol is numbered in the military fashion in the correct "V" suffix range with the full number on the frame, barrel and barrel extension and the last two digits "91" stamped on various small parts. It comes with an all blued folded sheet metal magazine with and aluminum base. The base is stamped with only the serial number "3691" over a small "Eagle/63" factory proof. This exceptional early Luger comes with an appraisal letter from Charles Kenyon who states that this as one of the finest he has ever seen.
