Description:

This is an example of a rare WWII 1944 dated military contract Krieghoff P.08 Luger that is complete with two numbered matching Krieghoff magazines and a black leather Krieghoff proofed holster. By serial number, this pistol falls into the early number block of 11200 to 11400 produced in late 1944. In this early/first block of serial numbers it is estimated that only 200 were produced in total with very few examples even known today. The chamber is marked "1944" with the front toggle correctly marked with the late production C-2 style Krieghoff logo that has the smaller "C" style anchor with the slanted bottom on the "U". The left point of the anchor, slightly outside the letter "H" with the right point touching the bottom of the "K". The right side of the barrel extension has the 1st "Lwa" stage II early acceptance proof next to the stage II mid-proof next to the final acceptance proof. The underside of the barrel is marked "881/LWa2/11310" numbered in the smaller size. The right side of the breechblock has the correct Luftwaffe "eagle/2" firing proof. It is fitted with the correct late production coarse checkered black plastic grips that are unmarked on the backside. As noted, it is complete with two matching Krieghoff proofed magazines. The sides of the bodies are stamped with "fxo/eagle/37," and the bases are simply stamped with the serial number "11310" inverted over the Luftwaffe "Eagle 2" acceptance proof. It is accompanied by an unmarked black leather holster with all black stitching that is stamped with a single very faint Luftwaffe "Eagle" proof on the back inside of the holster.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 98% of the professionally restored blue finish overall with minor edge and high spot wear with 50% of the straw colors on the smaller parts. The grips are in very fine condition with nice distinct checkering showing some minor handling marks across the tops of the checkering and along the sides. The holster is in very good condition with a nice smooth black leather surfaces showing wear and age cracking overall with the left belt loop having been sewn back on the holster.
