Description:

Measuring 35 3/4 inches in overall length with a 24 inch blade showing a fine tight wavy hamon and attractive grain set into a copper habaki. The fittings are traditional for the pattern, with a thick round brass tsuba, cherry blossom themed decoration and a black lacquer finished saya with a leather cover and a single suspension band. The tang has a single mekugi-ana, with a Seki Arsenal stamp over a 10-figure signature, which appears to be "Noshu Seki Ju Hattori Masahiro" (Hattori Masahiro of Seki, Mino Province), a Showa-era Swordsmith.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The blade shows an attractive hamon, with some light spotting, a few rubs in the skin, a small chip at the base of the spine, and a few minor (non fatal) cracks on the right flat. The furniture shows mild wear and tear appropriate to age and use, with the retention snap on the saya absent, some shifting/fraying of the wrap, and some scuffing of the leather.
