Early Production U.S. Colt Model 1911 Army Semi-Automatic Pistol

Manufactured in 1912, the introductory year for the model, and shipped as one of 250 to Augusta Arsenal, Georgia on November 1st of that year. Blade front and round top notch rear sights, with the two-line, two block address and patent dates on the left side of the slide, the Rampant Colt behind the serrations, and the Army nomenclature on the reverse. The frame is U.S. Property marked and Walter Penfield "WGP" inspected, with a long smooth trigger, wide checkered hammer, short grip safety, smooth mainspring housing, an unmarked pinned base two-tone magazine, and a "P/H" marked Colt barrel.

ConditionFine, with 50% plus original blue finish, with a bright gray appearance on the front strap and high edges, areas of brown patina, scattered dings and a few small patches of pitting. The grips are very good, with some dings and flat spots. Some notches have been ground into the leading edge of the magazine, reason unknown, otherwise the pistol is mechanically excellent.
