The Model 61 was designed a streamlined pump action .22 rifle to replace Winchester's old fashioned external hammer rifles in 1932 with a particular eye towards competing with Remington and Marlin's "hammerless" rifles. This example dates to 1947 and includes a Hoffman Hardware Company receipt dated "2-28-57" listing this rifle as sold at wholesale for a $33. It has the standard markings and features. A factory box with matching numbered end label and a manual are included.
