Produced in 1898. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights. Fluted receiver with the standard two line address/patent dates on the left side of the receiver, "U.S." on top of the chamber, two line model marking on the upper tang and "K.S.M." inspector marks on the left side of the lever and atop the bolt. Smooth straight grip stock, with the military-style partial upper handguard, grasping grooves, sling swivels and bayonet lug on the barrel bands, faint boxed cartouche on the left side of the wrist and a smooth buttplate with storage compartment. With a Winchester knife bayonet, 12 3/4 inches long with an 8 1/4 inch blade, wood grips and a leather and metal scabbard with leather belt loop.

Fair with a dark brown patina overall, showing areas of gray, scattered pitting and handling marks. The stock is fine, with scratches and dents. Mechanically functions, but the hammer doesn't always stay cocked, needs adjustment. The bayonet is very good, with light spotting, and the scabbard leather has some scuffs and cracks. Very few of these U.S. Winchester Model 1895 muskets ever turn up!
