Description:

Patterned closely after the Model 98K, the Walther Sport Model was popular with sportsmen and paramilitary groups as a short-range training rifle. Blade front and tangent rear sights, with Weimar-era "crown" proofs on the barrel, bolt and receiver; the Walther banner over "THURINGEN" on the chamber and the DSM marking on the right side ahead of the bolt. Smooth pistol grip stock with a brown leather sling and a smooth steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fine. 70% original blue finish remains with a slightly plum brown patina on the barrel bands, small scattered surface scratches, handling marks overall, and clear markings. The stock has been lightly sanded and re-oiled with a few small dings along the edges, a few small pressure marks, and a cleaned buttplate. Mechanically excellent.

Description:

This military style .22 rimfire rifle is clearly based on the famous Mauser military rifles widely used by the German military during the World Wars. It has German commercial proofs consisting of a crown over various letters, matching serial numbers on the barrel, receiver, and bolt components, inverted "V" blade front sight marked "+125", military style tangent rear sight graduated to 200 meters, military style stock and handguard with bolt disassembly ring in the butt, and a smooth steel buttplate marked "1939/2" at the toe. Includes a leather sling.

Rating Definition:

Fine. 85% original polished blue finish remains with some light handling marks overall, scattered pin point spotting on the barrel, crisp markings, and mild cycling wear. The repaired and refinished stock has a visible piece of replaced wood on the left side, attractive color, mildly cleaned buttplate, and some small scattered pressure marks. Mechanically excellent.
