Description:

This example bears the single Luftwaffe decal on the left side (as made before decals were eliminated entirely in 1943) with a tri-tone green/tan/brown camouflage overspray and a framework of heavy gauge steel wire around the crown. This type of camouflage upgrade is primarily associated with German forces stationed in France at the time of the Normandy amphibious landings. The interior of the skirt is stamped "D239" and "NS64", with no chinstrap and a brown leather liner.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with over 75% of the camo paint, showing wear around the edges and a number of scuffs and scratches exposing underlying layers of paint. The eagle was masked for part of the painting process, but was lightly dusted when the tan was applied. Mild cracks and scuffs are present on the webbing, and the interior shows mild spotting. There is a possibility that the helmet wire and camo paint are post war applications.
