Manufactured in 1856, this Colt Model 1849 revolver has the barrel marking "Sam'l Colt" in presentation style Old English letters surrounded by scrollwork flourishes more commonly reserved for factory engraved examples. The cylinder has the stagecoach holdup scene, and the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT" on the left side. The revolver has the letter "I,", accompanying the matching serial numbers found on the barrel, frame and grip straps. The cylinder, barrel wedge, arbor pin and grip are numbered to the gun. The serial number on the grip is found in the back strap cut-out.
