A total of 11,000 Colt London Model 1849s were manufactured from 1853 to 1856 and serialized in their own range (1-11000). This example was manufactured in 1854 and has a period engraving. This near full coverage engraving consists of beautiful and well-executed floral scrollwork. The top of the barrel has the two-line London address inside brackets, the left side of the barrel lug has two British proofs, the cylinder has the stagecoach holdup scene and alternating British proofs between the chambers, and the frame has "COLTS/PATENT." Matching numbers are stamped on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, back strap, cylinder, loading lever, arbor pin and wedge.

Fine as possibly period re-plated. The revolver retains 97% plus of the silver plating showing a few patches of mild pitting on the barrel and some minor flash type pitting. Nearly all of the cylinder scene remains. The refinished grip is fine showing high edge wear, a gouge on the bottom and some minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
