Offered here are two Colt Model 1851 Navy revolvers that were manufactured in 1861 and contained in a presentation case. Although not consecutively serialized, these revolvers are two digits apart (103136 and 103134)! The barrels are marked with the one-line New York address, the frames are marked "COLTS/PATENT," and the cylinders have the naval battle scene. Both revolvers have matching numbers found on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, back strap, cylinder, loading lever, and arbor pin. "A" has a wedge numbered to the gun, and "B" has an un-numbered wedge. The partitioned case has a monogrammed brass inlay on top of the lid and contains lead rounds, oiler, two percussion cap tins, double face eagle powder flask and "COLTS/PATENT" marked two-cavity bullet mold. The latch hardware is marked with a "crown/VR" and "SECURE PATENT."

Rating Definition:

Very good. The revolver has a mottled brown-gray patina with the barrel retaining 20% original blue finish and traces of original case colors in the protected areas. Most of the cylinder scene remains. The grip straps retain 20% original silver plating. The grip is fine showing high edge wear and some minor pressure dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent. The custom relined case is very good with a couple cracks on the lid, numerous handling/storage marks and some high spot wear on the lining.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The revolver has a mottled brown-gray patina with the barrel retaining 20% original blue finish and 30% original case colors remaining on the loading lever, frame and hammer. The cylinder has been refinished, retaining a large area of blue and most of the scene. The last two digits of the serial number "34" has been restamped to match revolver. The grip is fine with a number of minor pressure dents on the bottom, otherwise some minor high edge wear and some minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
