Fine Factory Engraved Brooklyn Arms Co. Slocom Sliding Chamber Rimfire Revolver with Case

These revolvers were only manufactured in 1863 and 1864 and high quality examples, especially those with higher end engraving and grips, are scarce and desirable. They are an ingenious work around the Rollin White patent using individual sliding chambers. This also allows for an interesting ejection method: the chamber slide forward and the cartridge are pushed out by a fixed ejector rod. This example has fine scrollwork on the barrel and frame. The latter also has rope and line border designs. The top of the barrel has the standard address, and the bottom has a small "2." The left side of the grip frame and underside of the right grip panel also have "2" markings, and the right side has two crosses. It comes in a Thomas Blissett case for a Tranter patent revolver with an oiler and three lidded compartments.

ConditionFine. The frame has a mix of 30% original silver plating and bright brass surfaces. The barrel displays light gray patina and some minor spots of pitting. The cylinder is mostly bright and has strong traces of original plating. The slightly undersized left grip is fine and has a yellowed patina, and the right remains mostly bright white indicating the gun spent considerable time on one side, likely in the included replacement case. It is mechanically excellent. This is all around one of the finer Slocum revolvers we have offered at auction.
