Factory Engraved Forehand & Wadsworth .22 Side Hammer Pocket Revolver with Scarce Gutta Percha Case

Only an estimated 1,000 of these revolvers were manufactured in the 1870s. A small percentage were engraved. This example has scroll, punch dot, and geometric engraving; blade and notch sights, "FOREHAND & WADSWORTH WORCESTER. MASS/PATS SEPT 24 & OCT 22. 1861" on the left side of the barrel, and smooth rosewood grips. It comes in a fancy gutta percha case similar to those used by Smith & Wesson for their famous No. 1 revolvers.

ConditionVery fine with 85% plus original nickel plating, some minor pitting and oxidation, and gray patina on the balance. The grips are fine with minor handling marks and some slight flakes in the varnish. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with a few barely noticeable chips visible on the lid and some light fading of the nearly all complete original lining. These are seldom encountered!
