A takedown variant of the Type 99 Arisaka designed to be carried disassembled by paratroopers when jumping and then put together on the ground. Features blade front and folding rear sights with anti-aircraft wings, ground mum on the receiver, "591" assembly numbered takedown hardware, smooth pistol grip stock with cupped buttplate, and the matching partial serial number "543" on the bayonet lug, barrel and bolt.

Very fine, with 85% plus original blue finish showing areas of brown patina and scattered spotting and handling marks. The stock is also very fine overall, with a small inlaid repair on the left side of the forearm just ahead of the takedown iron, along with some chips, scatted dings and scuffs, and some deeper scrapes on the underside of the buttstock. Mechanically excellent.
