Description:

Developed by Bergmann in the inter-war era, the MP35/1 is a fine example of the type of heavily machined, wood stocked machine pistols that were the order of the day before the introduction of the stamped sheet metal guns that would become the standard for World War II. An open bolt blowback weapon at heart, the 35/1 uses a cocking mechanism similar to Germany's earliest generation of semi-automatic rifles, with a "bolt action" non-reciprocating cocking piece that is turned, pulled and returned to charge the weapon for action. The trigger is an interesting 2-piece construction, with the triggers interfacing at the tips and the front trigger serrated across the top; pulling the front trigger at the top only moves the front trigger for semi-automatic fire, while pulling at the bottom actuates both triggers for full automatic fire. The serration reduces the chance of the finger slipping accidentally to full auto during discharge, and also provides instant tactile feedback to the operator regarding what firing mode they're about to use. While the Wehrmacht as a whole opted for the simpler MP38 and MP40 sub-machine guns, the Waffen-SS adopted the MP35, as did a number of foreign buyers. Blade front and tangent rear sights, with an integral muzzle brake ahead of the ventilated heat shield and a "S F" marked safety switch on the left side of the receiver. The receiver is unmarked except for the safety markings and the serial number, and the cocking piece is "eagle/N" proofed and numbered "1402/a". Fitted with a smooth pistol grip stock and a brown leather sling.

Rating Definition:

Fine as assembled and refinished, with 70% of the blue, showing some areas of brown patina, spotting and handling marks overall. The magazine well is showing a nice rich plum color overall. The stock is good, with some dents and scuffs. Mechanically very good. NOTE: This item is restricted as a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
