Description:

This is a scarce example of a pre-war ERMA designed submachine gun manufactured in Spain. This model is based on the original Heinrich Vollmer design developed in the 1920s. They were adopted by the SS in 1936, and were also sold to several South American countries and Spain. This is actually a third model in that it has the shorter barrel with the perforated barrel jacket, the redesigned stock without finger grooves, the vertical forward pistol grip, and the redesigned safety locking cutout (for the bolt handle) behind the ejection port. The safety button protrudes out from the trigger guard, which is marked "F/S/F". You have to rotate it to engage the safety, and when its in the "safe" position it stick out farther and actually prevents the bolt from completely closing, preventing any accidental firing. The two position semi-automatic and fully-automatic" selector switch is located on the right hand side of the trigger guard bow. This example also has the desirable earlier rifle style tangent rear sight graduated from 50-1000, (50 - 1000 meters) with the fixed blade front sight. It has side mounted sling swivels with a stamped steel buttplate. The magazine well is stamped "E-2223/CAL.9L" (indicating 9 mm Largo Cartridge). The bolt is also stamped "2223". It has an all blue finish with the bolt in the white, with a walnut stock. It comes with one original unmarked 20 round magazine.

Rating Definition:

Fine condition with 60% original blue finish overall with the front area/barrel jacket having an old refurbished blue finish. It shows light wear and blue finish loss on the edge and high spots. The stock is very good with a nice original medium colored oil finish, showing numerous handling marks and light pressure dents overall from actual use. Mechanically needs work. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
