DescriptionThis is a very scarce and desirable M16A2 Carbine with the desirable short 10 1/2 inch "Commando" length barrel. This example has the transitional M16A1 upper receiver with the tear-drop forward assist, and the two position flip rear sight, combined with the M16A2 lower. It is fitted with a standard weight, 10 1/2 inch long chrome lined barrel with a M16A1 style birdcage flash hider. The front of the barrel is stamped "CMP C", and although not marked, it is probably the older standard 1-12 twist rate. It has the late pattern lower receiver that is marked "COLT/M16 A2/CAL. 5.56MM" over the serial number". It also has the raised fence around the magazine release button, and the reinforced rear receiver ring. It is fitted with the very scarce, albeit short lived "three shot burst" fire control mechanism. Both side of the receiver are correctly marked with the ambidextrous marking of "SAFE/SEMI/BURST". It is fitted with the correct short, ribbed, round "commando" length black plastic handguard, black plastic standard pistol grip with the early style, two position sliding aluminum buttstock. Magazine absent.

ConditionExcellent with 98% of the gray anodized finish, showing light handling marks and wear from light firing and handling overall. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.

SHIPPING CHARGES. All shipping charges must be paid by the successful bidder prior to delivery of the firearm. If Rock Island Auction (RIAC) is asked to ship the purchased lots, there will be a separate charge for such shipping. Shipping charges will be based upon what it costs RIAC to ship the purchased lots to the purchaser. All items must have shipping insurance; this insurance is mandatory. RIAC will not charge any labor charges for shipping. RIAC is not liable for any acts of omissions in packaging or shipping. Purchased lots handled by outside carriers or packers, including those RIAC may have recommended, may carry their own insurance and any claims for losses or damages should be addressed directly to the outside carriers or packers.
