Description:

This is an excellent example of a very desirable late production Colt Firearms Division commercially manufactured, fully automatic M16A2 carbine. It is serial numbered in the "8 million" range to keep them separate from the military weapons. This example uses a M16A2 transitional lower receiver that was produced just shortly before the 1994 assault rifle ban with the fence around the mag release and the reinforced rear buffer tube ring area. The left side of the receiver is stamped with" M16 A2 Cal 5.56 MM" over the serial number; and farther back it is marked "COLT FIREARMS DIVISION/COLT INDUSTRIES/HARTFORD CONN./U.S.A. over the markings of: "SAFE," "SEMI" and "BURST;" however, it is fitted with just the standard "Full Auto" components. It is fitted with the earlier M16A1 style upper receiver, the two position rear sight, and the 14 1/2 inch M16A1 style slim barrel with the standard birdcage flash hider. The barrel is marked: "C MP 5.56MM 1/7". It is fitted with the correct round ribbed A2 style handguards, checkered pistol grip, and a SP1 style aluminum sliding buttstock. The stock has been upgraded with a detachable raised plastic cheekpiece and a slip-on rubber boot. This rifle includes one 30 round magazine. These original Colt fully automatic M16 series weapons are very desirable as they were produced using the same tooling and machinery as the military versions using the same original factory parts.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 98% plus of the original gray parkerized Colt finish with minor edge and high spot wear and evidence of firing. The plastic components are all excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
