Description:

Manufactured in 1917 and later beautifully engraved by Master Engraver Ray Viramontez. This pistol was featured on the cover of the December 1974 issue of "Guns" magazine and is pictured and described on page 384 of "The Book of Colt Engraving" by R.L. Wilson. Features standard fixed blade and notch sights, two-line address and patent marking on the left side of the slide and caliber marking on the right. The pistol has near full coverage fine Germanic oak leaf and scroll engraving with only the front grip strap, top of the slide, and underside of the frame left untouched for contrast. The back of the slide has been finely checkered. The pistol does fall into the military serial number range and a "P" proof is visible on top of the slide. Includes two copies of the above mentioned magazine issue and a copy of "The Book of Colt Engraving".

Rating Definition:

Very fine as embellished and refinished by Master Engraver Ray Viramontez. 99% of the bright nickel finish remains with some scattered small handling marks, traces of light pitting under the nickel on the trigger guard, and scattered small surface scratches. There are some small dings on the otherwise very fine grips. Mechanically excellent.
