This improved 1816 pattern musket has the standard early Whitney second contract markings and features and is dated "1835" on the lock and barrel tang. The side plate is marked "WG.FLETCHER" (first three letters larger).

Very good as reconverted. The iron has a smooth blend of light gray and brown patina and some minor spotting. The good stock has been lightly sanded and refinished and has traces of the cartouche, some small surface chips, dents, and scratches. Mechanically fine.
