Description:

1) Ames marked 1860 pattern light cavalry sword, 39 3/4 inches overall, 34 inch double fuller blade with "U.S./ADK/1862" and "AMES MFG Co./CHICOPEE/MASS." on the ricasso and "11145" on the left side of the knuckle guard. With a brass hilt, non-regulation wire wrapped leather grip, and a bright iron scabbard marked "ADK" on the drag. 2) C. Roby 1860 sword, 40 3/4 inches overall, 35 inch blade marked with the C. Roby address on the left ricasso and "U.S./1864/A.G.M" on the right. The hilt is brass, with a wire wrapped leather grip and "M" stamped on the pommel. With an unmarked iron scabbard.

Rating Definition:

1) Very good, with added markings and heavy polishing on the blade, pitting on the middle third of the left side near the edge, a mixed aged patina on the hilt and scabbard, and scattered handling marks. 2) Good, with spotting and wear on the blade, a mixed patina on the hilt, mild cracking, verdigris buildup and loose wire on the grip, and a mixed patina with light spotting on the scabbard.
