Manufactured before 1887 based on the "NOT FOR BALL" marking on the barrel tubes. Single bead sight, 3 inch chambers, single extractor, cylinder/cylinder chokes, and rib marked "W.C. SCOTT & SON MAKERS & PATENTEES (EXCEL QUALITY) 10 Gt. CASTLE STREET REGENT CIRCUS LONDON". Receiver and side plates are engraved with fine English scroll and game bird scenes including ducks, snipes, and swans. Each lock plate is marked "W.C. Scott & Son". Checkered splinter forearm with matching engraving, and checkered buttstock with silver initial oval and checkered horn buttplate. Barrel and stock measurements are: drop at comb 1 3/4 inches; drop at heel 2 3/8 inches; length of pull 14 1/4 inches. Bore 9 inches from the breech measures right .778, left .776, wall thickness right .080, left .081.

Fine. The barrels have an overall mottled brown/gray patina with small scattered dings, some spotting, and light rib markings. Traces of original case colors remain in the protected areas with a mottled dark patina on the balance, spotting, and crisp engraving. The wood has well defined mostly smooth checkering with dings and bruises throughout, and some chips on the buttplate. Mechanically excellent.
