Description:

This is an excellent example of a late 1945 dated WWII British Enfield No. 4 MK I (T) sniper rifle that is complete with the matching scope mount, correct matching No. 32 MKIII scope, matching bolt, matching canvas scope bag, brass scout telescope and the wooden storage/carrying case. These rifles were the standard British sniper rifle used in WWII. They were developed in the late 1930s and used until the early 1960s. The left side of the butt socket is marked "M47C/1945/R35065/TR". The rifle is fitted with the correct and matching No 32 MKIII scope that is marked on top of the tube "TEL.STG.No 32 MKII/O.S. 2039 A/C&T No. 24069" with a reapplied red "W" and blue "B" mark. The scope rings are numbered "992" and "993." The mounting bracket is stamped with the matching serial number "R35065". The rifle is complete with the matching hard canvas No.8 MK 2 scope bag that is numbered to match the rifle and scope. The rifle has the standard blade front sight and tangent military rear sight. It is fitted with the correct wartime semi-pistol grip walnut stock, forestock and handguards. The forestock and buttstock are both original WWII British issue for sniper rifles. The forestock is unfortunately numbered to a different rifle, and the buttstock is correctly stamped "S51" directly behind the pistol grip area; however, it is not stamped with the scope serial number. The comb of the buttstock is fitted with an original wooden cheek piece held on with two wooden screws. The buttstock is fitted an aluminum buttplate with the trap compartment. The rifle is complete with an original leather sling and original leather scope covers. This rifle rig also includes an original WWI issue British three-draw scout telescope with its leather carrying case and shoulder strap. These were standard issue in both WWI and again in WWII for sniper use. The rear brass tube is correctly marked " TEL. SCT. REGT. MK II/B.C.& CO. LTD/8726/O.S.126.G.A.". The rig is complete with an original wartime green wooden storage/shipping container, with an end label inside the box (loose) that is hand marked with the rifle serial number. The top of the lid has an old Golden State Arms shipping label. Although this has rifle has a mismatched forestock, it correctly complete with it matching scope and scope mount, which are both correctly recorded on the No.8 MK2 scope bag.

Rating Definition:

The rifle is in excellent with 97% of its original WWII black painted finish overall with only minor edge and high spot wear. The forestock and buttstock are both excellent with a nice matching medium brown color overall showing only minor handling marks with clear proof and acceptance stamps. The scope and mount retain 98% of their black painted exterior finish. The scope has nice clear optics, and the windage and elevation knobs move correctly. The scope bag is also excellent. The scout regiment scope is also very fine. The three draw tubes are excellent, pull out correctly, and have lost most of the their original black finish; however, the optics are clear and sharp, and it correctly focuses. The outer leather scope storage case is also excellent. The wooden storage case is good with a nice 75% of its green exterior painted finish with several units markings painted over which is typical when these rifles were taken out of stores and sold off. A very nice all complete late WWII British No. 4 MK I (T) sniper rifle rig.
