Description:

This is an extremely rare very late WWII assembled Walther PPK with the rare Party Leader Grips with an unfinished aluminum frame. This rare pistol is completely in the white having never received its final metal finishes. It has no factory markings, proofmarks or serial number; however, the Party Leader grips are original WWII Walther production. This example has the very scarce "duraluminum" frame that was manufactured and utilized on a very limited number of Walther pistols during WWII and remains in its original "in the white" still unfinished condition. Clearly, it was a factory find or assembled in the factory after Germany capitulated and the factory was overrun by the American GIs. It is accompanied by a typed document accounting that this pistol was found in the belongings of an American GI nurse (Hannah Stinson) who passed away in 1973 in Columbus, Ohio. The documentation states that she was in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during WWII with the 62nd Field Hospital stationed in the ETO (European Theater). Obviously, she was not at the Walther factory; however, she was probably given this scarce pistol as gift from a GI she knew or took care of in her position as a Nurse. The sides of the slide and frame still show the milled finish on the surfaces and the only completely blued parts are the smaller items such as the hammer, trigger, safety rear sight, etc. It is fitted with a "Walther" only marked magazine with a very rare mottled, brown longer "extended" finger groove base plate that was typically used on one of the Walther 22 target pistols. The magazine itself obviously was picked up at the factory also as it looks like it went through the heat treat process; however. was never final polished and blued. As noted, it is fitted with an excellent set of brown mottled Party Leader grips that are in really excellent condition.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with all the metal surfaces still in the white (except the noted smaller parts) just like it was when it left the factory. The rare grips, as noted, are in excellent condition with only a hint of warpage on the lower corners. Mechanically fine. This is an excellent example of a late, end of war Walther factory assembly that was picked up as "war booty" by some lucky GI and then acquired by a field nurse operating in the ETO.
