Description:

Measuring 36 1/2 inches in overall length with a 25 inch blade showing a fine slightly wavy hamon and attractive grain set into a striped brass habaki. The fittings are traditional for the pattern, with a thick round brass tsuba, cherry blossom themed decoration, gilt fittings and a skin-wrapped wood saya with dual suspension bands. The tang has a single mekugi-ana, with a pair of red paint markings on the left side (no carved signature or Showa stamps); the work is attributed by the consignor to the Showa-era smith "Kunimori", a notable pre and post WWII maker of traditional gendaito.

Rating Definition:

Fine, some light scratches and spots are visible on the blade, with a fine bright color overall and a strong hamon. The external wrap of the saya has shrunk; otherwise, the furniture is good overall.
