Description:

This is a fine example of an original, WWII, German Submachine gun produced by C.G. Haenel under license from Schmeisser. This specific weapon was issued to the Imperial German Navy, probably in the early 1930s, under the late Weimar or early Nazi governments. The magazine well is stamped with: "N161" indicating issue to the North Sea Navy. It is also correctly stamped with a small "Crown/N" commercial firing proof along with a, "Eagle/37" Waffenamt from the Haenel factory. These were originally designed by Schmeisser in 1917. The first model was used in WWI and reissued in the 1920s to the Weimar Police under the Versailles Treaty. The M.P. 28II is improved with a redesigned magazine well that allows it to use a DRP/Schmeisser marked magazine (included) or the later MP38/40 stick type magazines. Additionally, this design now has a selector switch (button), so that it can fire either semi-auto or full-automatic. It has a fully machined upper receiver tube and perforated barrel jacket with a machined magazine housing attached above midway on the receiver. The top of the magazine housing is marked "M.P. 28.II/SYSTEM SCHMEISSER PATENT/Crown N proof" over serial number "16255". It is fitted with a military style tangent rear sight that is graduated from 200-1000 meters and a fixed blade front sight. It has a finger groove walnut stock with sling swivel attachments. This example has matching serial numbers on the receiver/barrel jacket, magazine housing and buttstock. It is complete with two original stick magazines, one approximately 30 round and other one approximately 40 rounds.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 85% plus of the original blue finish showing edge and high spot wear, thinning on top of the receiver, and a larger area under the rear area of the barrel jacket and front end of the receiver where something was ground off which now shows a silver/brown bare metal finish. The stock is very good with nice original oil finish with handling marks and light pressure dents on the sides and underside from actual use. NOTE: This item is restricted as a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
