Description:

Manufactured in 1941 in Suhl, Thuringia, this Haenel MP40 is in very good condition, and appears to be in all-matching original configuration. One of the signature models of the German "machine pistol" class of infantry weapons, the MP40 saw use virtually everywhere the German Army went, as well as being captured and returned to service by various resistance/underground groups. Constructed primarily from stamped sheet metal with a machined barrel and molded bakelite body panels, the MP40 operates on open bolt blowback principles, using an interesting telescoping recoil assembly instead of a loose spring filling the receiver tube. Hooded blade front and two leaf rear sights, with the three-line model, maker code and date on the rear of the receiver, "cos" on the underside of the receiver ahead of the magazine well, and an assortment of Waffenamt proofs, including 'WaA165", "eagle/37" and "WaA44" on a number of parts. The matching serial number "55222" or "222" is present on multiple parts as well, with no visible mixed numbers. The trigger housing and grips are ribbed brown bakelite construction, with an under-folding steel buttstock. Included with the SMG is a brown leather magazine pouch with two "MP41" marked Haenel magazines, as well as an assortment of MP40 parts.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with 70% of the refinished blue finish, showing areas of brown patina, scattered dings and handling marks, and light scratches on the metal and bakelite. There is some play in the stock, otherwise it is in good order. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This item is restricted as a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
