Description:

Manufactured by American Arms Incorporated of Salt Lake City, Utah, the American 180 traces it's ergonomic and mechanical lineage to both the M1 Thompson sub-machine gun and the Degtyaryov light machine gun. In many ways resembling a miniature WWII M1 Tommy Gun, the American 180 top feeds from a spring-loaded "platter" style drum magazine, fires through a full automatic open bolt mechanism and ejects through the bottom for an action that's right and left hand friendly, with a rate of fire that's murder on range targets and in a caliber that isn't murder on the bank account. While chiefly having a reputation as a "fun gun", a limited number are known to have been picked up by the Utah Department of Corrections. Originally manufactured for American International by Voere of Austria, a limited number were assembled/manufactured in the U.S.. Blade front and M1-style adjustable rear sights, with a finned barrel marked "made in Austria" and bearing an American International address over the number "A01528". The receiver is addressed to American Arms International, with "B05060" serial number and model nomenclature on the underside, with a two-position "SAFE" and "FIRE" safety switch on the right. Fitted with a brown plastic forearm, pistol grip and quick-detach buttstock. Included with the lot is a blued steel magazine, an after-market extended plastic magazine, loading tray and an extra magazine spring mechanism.

Rating Definition:

Fine as assembled, with 95% plus blue/black finish, showing some light rubbing on the front of the trigger guard and mild handling marks overall. The forearm shows some casting voids in the back, and the buttstock has cracks forming on both sides of the wrist. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
