Description:

Each book is identically and accurately titled, pertaining to the activities of the Singer Sewing Machine Company during World War II. Most famous for sewing machines, Singer's in-house production of solid and laminate wood furniture as well as narrow tolerance machines made them an ideal firm for war production, and they were actively sought out by the Allies for a variety of projects. Book #1 (black cover) in the lot was printed in America on order from Singer's New York City offices and covers the American and Canadian wing of the establishment, detailing assorted interesting war work such as the production of the Singer 1911A1 pistol, M5 anti-aircraft gun directors and laminated plywood components for aircraft and cutting edge radio controlled jet bombs, as well as the difficulties experienced by the commercial branch of the company due to the demands of war. Book #2 (light blue cover) was printed in the United Kingdom on orders from the Clydebank, Scotland office, and details their work on hardware like helmet liners, gauges, and components for both aircraft and bombs, as well as the damage suffered to the firm from German air raids. Both feature a plastic protective cover.

Rating Definition:

Both are in fine condition, with mild wear and tear on the covers and mild staining of the edges of the pages. The ultimate accessory for your extremely rare Singer M1911A1!
