Description:

Constructed from five segments of single sided "Splittermuster" (splinter pattern) herringbone twill fabric, the helmet cover is fitted with a set of six cloth loops four mounting additional camouflage material, much in the style of some Waffen-SS camouflage smocks. The edge is non-elastic, secured with a drawstring made from the same "splitter" cloth. This style of camo cover was seen in use on the Western Front in Europe, with fallschirmjaegers in the Normandy region having been photographed with similar covered modified to fit their own helmets. Helmet is single decal pattern, with the black/silver "Heer Eagle" on the left side. The interior of the helmet is stamped "CKL66/5080" in the rear, with no chinstrap and brown leather webbing size marked "58".

Rating Definition:

The cover is very fine, with some minor stains and wear. Overall the colors and pattern are crisp. The helmet exterior is fair, with about 80% of the decal present, a few patches of pitting, and scuffs and wear appropriate to age. The webbing is missing most of its cord, with light tearing of the vent holes.
