Manufactured in 1891. The top barrel flat is marked with the two-line address ahead of the rear sight and "38-56 W.C.F." at the breech. The upper tang is marked "--MODEL 1886--". The 1884 and 1885 patent dates are marked on the lower tang directly behind the trigger, and the serial number is at the end. Dovetailed blade front sight, adjustable buckhorn rear sight, blue barrel and full length magazine, casehardened remaining parts, and is mounted with a smooth walnut forearm with steel forend cap and straight grip stock with a crescent steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel and magazine tube retain 70% faded original blue finish with high edge wear on the barrel and thinning on the magazine tube. The receiver retains 25% original case colors mixed with a smooth mottled silver gray patina. Most of the original case colors remain on the hammer, and the lever and buttplate have a smooth dark patina. The wood has had a coat of varnish applied overall some time ago and remains fine with some scattered minor dent and scratches. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
