Originally manufactured in 1915 and subsequently custom embellished by Master Engraver Richard Chapman. He signed the left side of the receiver. A semi-relief scroll engraving with a silver inlaid line border is featured on the receiver, magazine, lever and buttplate. Silver (or possibly platinum?) inlaid big cat scenes are on both sides of the receiver. The receiver retains the two-line Winchester address/patent date marking and the three-line model/trade mark information on the upper tang. The barrel has pinned blade front and elevation adjustable rear sights, the nickel steel marking followed by ".30 ARMY" on the left side, wedges of scrollwork at the breech and a semi-relief floral engraving with silver inlaid border running the length of the top. The left side of the lower tang is unmarked. The nicely figured Schnabel forearm (lacks insert) and straight grip stock feature fine checkering.
Fine as custom embellished overall showing a few minor handling marks overall and a series of scratches on both sides of the buttstock near the buttplate. Mechanically excellent.
