Description:

The accompanying factory letter confirms the barrel length, rare Humpback hammer, finish and checkered walnut Magna grips. It was shipped on September 8, 1939, and delivered to William A. Shroyer's & Sons Co. of Dayton, Ohio. This was a single unit shipment that was originally billed at $28.27. The revolver has standard S&W factory markings, pinned blade front and square notch adjustable rear sights, matching serial numbers on the butt, ejector shroud, cylinder and right grip panel; and matching assembly number "41495" on the yoke and crane. The original factory box has the white label numbered to the gun. Provenance: Chad Gripp collection.

Rating Definition:

Excellent plus. The revolver retains over 99% original blue finish showing a cylinder drag line. 99% plus original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. The grips are excellent with crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. The box is fine showing minor wear. You would be hard pressed to find a better conditioned pre-WWII S&W .38/44 Outdoorsman revolver with original box.
