Desirable War of 1812 Era 1811 Dated U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1795 Type III Flintlock Musket with Bayonet

This is a Type III Flintlock Musket with a brass blade front sight on the barrel band, a bayonet band near the muzzle, "US" and "P/Eagle head/V" at the breech, the lock plate dated 1812 and marked with a script "US" over the federal eagle and shield motif above "SPRINGFIELD" in an upward curve, "1811" dated buttplate, "LJ" and another inspection mark behind the trigger guard, and a socket bayonet. The Model 1795 is significant as the first official musket of the U.S. military and was widely used in the War of 1812.

ConditionVery good overall with mottled gray patina and light pitting, a few partially obliterated markings, darker brown patina and oxidation on the trigger guard and buttplate, some dents and minor chips along the stock, and a larger chip at the breech on the left. The bayonet matches the condition of the rest of the musket. Mechanically fine.
