Description:

Manufactured in 1898 and delivered subsequent to the Spanish-American War as part of the second U.S. Navy contract. The Winchester-Lee Model 1895 straight pull rifle was a go to arm for the Navy and Marine Corps during the Spanish-American War, Philippine Insurrection, and the Boxer Rebellion. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights, "-U.S.N.-/[anchor]/No19155/-J.N.J.-" on the receiver ring and the two-line New Haven address/patent marks on the left side of the receiver. Smooth pistol grip stock with sling swivels and a smooth buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 95% of the original blue finish, patches of brown patina on the bolt handle, scattered light spotting and handling marks, and some bright edge wear. The stock is very fine and has a number of dents and scratches overall, some clamp marks between the mid band and receiver, a thin crack running forward from the bolt handle notch, and scuffing on the underside near the buttplate toe. Mechanically excellent.
