The extra length octagonal barrel has blade front and elevation adjustable rear sights, the two-line address/patent dates marking ahead of the rear sight and "38 W.C.F." at the breech. The upper tang is marked "MODEL 1873," and the cartridge elevator is marked "38 CAL." The action features a single set trigger. Mounted on a checkered deluxe pistol grip stock with ebony insert on the grip and trapdoor crescent buttplate. The five-piece cleaning rod is included. The left side of the lower tang has the assembly number "1191 XXX 38." "1191" is repeated on the stock inlet.
Fine. The barrel and magazine retain 75% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. The remaining metal surfaces retain 50% original case colors. The otherwise fine wood exhibits a crack through the grip area, some flattening of the overall crisp checkering and scratches. (A prime candidate for an expert wood restorer!) Mechanically excellent.
