Manufactured in 1915 and subsequently embellished. The accompanying factory letter only lists the original order number 13647. No other information was available. The sides of the receiver have a very well done floral scroll etching incorporating a hunter firing his rifle at a charging bear on the left side, and a running dog on the right side. It has beaded blade Lyman and elevation adjustable sights on a barrel with the Winchester legend and two-line nickel steel marking followed by "33 W.C.F." on the left side, Winchester factory oval proofs, a lower tang marked with the patent dates and serial number and highly figured and checkered pistol grip stock with hard rubber Winchester grip cap and added unmarked solid recoil pad. The left side of the lower tang and the stock inlet are marked with the assembly number "347."
Extremely fine as period custom embellished. The barrel, magazine tube, takedown collar and forend cap retain 95% original blue finish and the receiver retains 90% blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. The etching is crisp. 60% original case colors remain on the lever. The wood is fine showing some minor dings and scratches and light wear in the overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
