Fine Smith & Wesson Model Number 1 2nd Issue Revolver with Gutta Percha Case

Manufactured from 1860 to 1868. The barrel rib has the one-line address, and the cylinder has the patent date marking. The right grip panel is numbered to the gun. Comes with a period gutta percha case with a relief floral scroll pattern on the exterior of the lid and purple velvet lining. The lining in the lid has a floral design. The case contains an empty cartridge block for 56 rounds.

ConditionVery fine. The barrel and cylinder retain 70% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. The frame retains 97% plus original silver plating which is darkening with age. The grips are very good showing a small hairline crack and a large scuff mark on the bottoms, heavy high edge wear (right panel) and some minor dings and scratches. The case is extremely fine showing a few hairline cracks and traces of the floral design remaining on the lid lining.
