Description:

Manufactured in 1898. This is one of only 970 Model 1878 revolvers having been chambered for the .32-20 WCF cartridge. The accompanying factory letter lists this revolver with a 7 1/2 inch barrel in .32-20 caliber, blue finish and hard rubber grips when it was shipped to Hartley & Graham of New York City for B. Slacks Sons on April 28, 1898. The barrel has the one-line address on top and "32 W.C.F." on the left side, the lower left side of the frame has a circled Rampant Colt, and a lanyard ring is mounted on the butt. Although numbered to the gun, the grips are replacements. Matching numbers are found on the butt and rear face of cylinder (644).

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The revolver retains 75% pawn original blue finish with the balance a mix between smooth gray and brown patinas. The oversize replacement grips are fine showing a few minor handling marks and crisp checkering overall. There is play in the cylinder but action functions properly.
