Manufactured in 1906, this is an excellent example of a special order Marlin Model 1893 Takedown rifle with half octagon barrel and deluxe checkered wood. The barrel is equipped with a Lyman blade front sight with white bead and adjustable rear sporting sight. The top barrel flat is marked "MARLIN FIRE-ARMS CO., NEW-HAVEN CT. U.S.A./PATENTED OCT. 11,1887, APRIL 2, 1889, AUGUST 1,1893" directly ahead of the rear sight, "SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL" flanked by a diamond on the left rear flat and "38-55" on the top flat at the breech. The top of the receiver is marked "MARLIN SAFETY", the upper tang "MODEL/1893" and the serial number is marked on the bottom front of the frame. Casehardened receiver, hammer and lever and blue finished barrel and half length magazine. Mounted with a checkered forearm and pistol grip stock with steel forend cap and checkered hard rubber Marlin buttplate.
