There are no identifying markings visible on the pistols. They were likely manufactured in the early 18th century. The stocks have "1099." and "1100." to the left of upper tangs respectively and "AV" above the triggers in black marking suggesting they were part of a museum collection. The barrels have rounded blade front sights on raised sighting flats, raised relief Baroque foliage and scrollwork incorporating a male portrait mask on the breech sections, and grooved and engraved upper tangs serving as rear sights. The curved locks have bridle-less frizzens, bridled tumblers, convex outer faces, beautiful scroll and geometric engraving, and fleur-de-lis style frizzen spring finials. The side plates have elaborate pierced designs and engraving that is inhabited by a serpent's head above the triggers. The trigger guards have floral finials. The tendril style butt caps have scroll engraving en suite, including raised relief designs, and grotesque mask plugs. They are fitted with faceted ramrod pipes and have iron capped wood ramrods. The figured stocks have raised relief foliate carving, pronounced tear drop flats, and raised moulding around the ramrod channel.
