Description:

Manufactured circa 1886-1894, this lot has two sets of barrels, one a 12 gauge shotgun, (29 3/4 inches) and the other 12 bore rifle barrels, (27 1/2 inches). Both are Damascus with smooth solid ribs, concave on the shotgun barrels. The shotgun barrels have 2 1/2 inch chambers, modified/modified chokes, and an extractor. The rifle barrels have a three folding leaf rear sight finished in bright niter blue and marked "100", "200" and "300" and a dovetailed niter blue blade front sight. Both sets are gold inlaid "Et Heuse Lemoine Cie Bte's" at the breech end and have two gold inlaid wire bands around the breech end. Both have the correct Liege proofmarks on the undersides as well as the manufacturer's stamp and have sling swivels mounted on the underside of the ribs. The shotgun barrels wall thickness is .35/.35 and a bore diameter of .714/.713. The under lever back action is lightly engraved with fine English scroll which extends to the hammers, trigger guard and forearm hardware. The left lock has "Georges Crahay" in gold inlay, and the right lock has "Eant d'armes a Liege" in gold inlay. The upper tang between the hammer has a gold inlaid decorative double "M" monogram. The water table is marked with "crown/M" and perron proofmarks and the serial number. The barrels are brown Damascus. The break levers, buttplate pieces and trigger guard are blue, and the remaining metal surfaces are casehardened. Mounted with a checkered walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a sling swivel, checkered bare butt and a heel and toe plate. The length of pull is 14 1/8 inches. Comes in a wooden case with brass insets in the lid and purple velvet lining with "GEORGES CRAHAY/FABRICANR D'ARMES/A LIEGE" gold embossed on the inside of the lid. In the case are two powder measurers, a nipple wrench, a paper shell trimmer, a bullet seater, a decapper with base, a chamber buffer and a screwdriver each with an ebony handle; a polished metal case holder, and a three-piece wood and brass cleaning rod.

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine. The barrels retain 98% original brown finish, all of the gold inlay, and all of the Damascus pattern. The levers and trigger guard retain 90% original bright blue finish with some minor cycling wear and edge wear on the trigger guard and some minor wear and a number of small minor scratches on the forearm lever. The remaining metal surfaces retain 80% original bright case colors with some fading on the locks and a smooth gray patina on the lower tang. The wood is very fine with some minor dents and dings on the stock and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically fine. The case is good with a small amount of the brass inset absent on the lid, a small area of the wood veneer absent, and overall some dings and scratches. The fine original lining shows some absent material, some fading, and some staining. Two compartment are absent of the fitted respective accessory. All of the accessories are good or better with an age patina on brass components.
