Description:

1) "U.S. MARSHALL" marked bowie knife, 10 1/2 inches overall, 5 inch clip-point blade, mameluke pattern hilt with laminated grip and brass fittings, and a leather sheath. 2) Charlton Limited "001" Damascus knife, 10 1/2 inches overall, with a six inch double edged blade, brass furniture, wood grip and a leather sheath. 3) One pair of U.S. Marshall themed ebony grips (appear to be for a Freedom Arms revolver) and one round of "F-A" headstamped 454 Casull hollow point ammo. 4) Galco shoulder holster rig, configured for a Smith & Wesson semi-automatic pistol and two extra magazines. 5) Tiffany & Company sterling silver U.S. Marshal badge, 2 3/8 inches wide. Both the shoulder rig and badge are attributed by the consignor to J.C. Herbert "Herb" Bryant Jr., an American law enforcement/paramilitary figure whose career can be most generously described as "colorful", with the badge in particular supported by a signed letter from R.L. Wilson, who stated his intention to reference the badge in a future publication. A child of old money, he was the backing behind Armed Response Group US, a scheme to loan privately owned and operated armored combat vehicles to U.S. law enforcement (this being in the 1980's, before the 1033 Program started throwing out MRAPs like party favors), during which he claimed the titles of Sheriff's Deputy (bought and paid for), Special Deputy U.S. Marshal (acquired via networking and political favors, later retracted) and Major General (completely fake, complete with completely fake Medal of Honor); he would later go to jail for trying to use his withdrawn Marshal status to get out of trouble for illegally parking a Suburban full of guns in front of a hotel hosing a group of Israeli diplomats. Bryant was also named as one of Colonel Oliver North's "associates" in the Iran-Contra Scandal, up to and including accusations of using his family property to build a private airport for drug smuggling.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall. The knives show some mild verdigris buildup, and the Marshal badge has been lightly polished.
